Today Matthew had his two year old check up and it was all good news! He weighed in at 25 pounds, 2 ounces and 34 inches tall. They said based on his weight and height percentiles at this visit (50th for both), they would guess he would be 5'10" at full height. But, at almost all of his previous visits he has been more like the 75th or 80th percentile, which would put him somewhere closer to 6'1".

She said his lungs sounded great and she was very pleased to hear that. It is still hard to know how this whole asthma business will turn out for Matthew. Apparently, research shows that it breaks out into thirds: a third get over their asthma issues around age 3, another third around age 9 or 10, and another third never do. I am hopeful that Matthew will fall into the first category since he has been reacting so well to his medications.

No immunizations this visit but he did get a finger prick. That was no fun and I'm sure they would have rewarded him with a lollipop if he hadn't already helped himself to two!!

Matthew makes a wish

Party On, Birthday Boy

Matthew had a blast at his 2 year old birthday party last night. We had about a dozen people over for pizza and cupcakes. Matt is featured here with Poppa who made him a handmade wooden sailboat to play with in the tub! Matt loves it and we affectionately call it Poppa's boat! There were lots of trucks, boats, and boy stuff to be had! He loved it all! Thanks to all for helping make Matt's day special!

Matt and KK - Buddies

My name is "My-shoe"

My boy did the cutest thing last night and then replicated it for Dad's benefit this morning. Last night, he wanted me to pick him up so he could look at a cluster of photos we have on the wall of he and KK. He pointed to KK and said "KK" (which he has been doing for some time). But, then he pointed to the picture of himself and said "Matthew" (pronounced, my-shoe) which he had not done before. At first I didn't know why he started talking about shoes but then I got it! It was too cute and he was so proud!

This morning we took a look at our photo calendar, which for Matthew's birthday month features two shots of him on his birthday last year (one posing and being cute and the other covered in cake). He looked at the first photo and said "My-shoe" -- praise, praise from the parents --- and then he looked at the picture of his face covered in cake and said, "uh-oh!"
