First Easter Egg Hunt!

The kids had a great time at their first ever Easter Egg hunt! Katharine went straight to work and just took off, looking for eggs. She seemed to strategize by going the exact opposite direction of all the other kids. You can see below she had no trouble filling her basket. Matthew was thrilled with looking for eggs and filling his basket. But, once he realized their was candy inside the eggs, then it was more about getting into that and the eggs became slightly less important. This egg hunt was in our neighborhood and they had cake and refreshments at the cabana afterward. A good time was had by all.

Here is KK in her new sunglasses! She thinks they are just the right glasses as the lenses are actually on hinges that swing open! Very high tech.

Funny comments from this morning (St. Patty's Day):

1) After much cajoling I talked Katharine into wearing a green shirt today for St. Patrick's Day (I shirt I bought and she has completely refused to wear for months). So, after getting her psyched up about St. Patty's Day the night before, when it came time to wear the shirt, she was not feeling it. And she said to me, "Mom, green is just not my color!".

2). Katharine was approaching the bathroom sink and was brushing away a piece of hair that had drifted into her mouth and she said, "Whoa, got a piece of hair in my talker!"

Spring Break in Key West - Family Style

Here is the Roof family enjoying a five day sojourn to the Florida Keys! This picture is taken at Mallory Square where we took in the street performers and had a yummy dinner at a restaurant overlooking the water. Our favorite show was the Cat Man, who has these trained cats that jump through hoops, etc. And we had some good fun watching the juggling English chap as well.

We also had a blast staying with Nanna who has a lovely view of the water, a pool, and a hot tub - what more could we ask for! We jokingly call her house the Fick's Resort. We did some kayaking, KK did LOTS of swimming, and we saw lots of Florida Key's wildlife (Osprey, Iguana, Deer, Ibis, Pelicans, and turtles).

Other outings included our usual stop to Baby's Coffee (good coffee!) and a ride up to Big Pine Key and the Key Deer refuge. We saw a few deer on that outing but saw many more when we went back in the evening to eat yummy pizza at the No Name Pub (their niche is to have people hang a dollar on the wall and they claim to have $50,000 hanging on the walls).

This was Matthew's first time on a plane and he did really well (napped on two of the four flights). On the trip home he chanted, "on the plane" over and over as we boarded the plane.
