Calling planet Mars

So, we're driving home from a family outing of bowling and we have the conversation below as we drive over the "cross-town" and see the flashing blue lights of a police car in the distance:

Paul: What's going on over there?
Me: I don't know, I can't see... the police must have pulled somebody.
Katharine: Oh, the police. I thought it was an alien abduction.

File this one under kids says the darnedest things!

I've been a really bad blogger of late. I've also been a really busy mom, worker, wife, daughter, etc. (you get the picture). It got to the point where I didn't know how to get back into this blog or if I should bother. But, I didn't want to give it up; it's been special to me and, while I don't need the internet for that, I think there may be one or two others out there who checked in occasionally. At any rate, I'm back and I'm just starting again -- anew. I'm not going to worry about where I left off or how to create a smooth transition from the previous posts to this one, I'm just starting.

I've started a study at my Church called 1,000 gifts by Ann Voskamp and, in a nutshell, it's about the power of positive thinking. That is where I came across the word Eucharisteo -- Greek for thanksgiving. The word struck me and I found the sound of it beautiful. I say it to myself several times a day...Eucharisteo, Eucharisteo. I've also taken Voskamp's Joy Dare to keep a journal of 1,000 gifts. I"m up to 25 or so so we'll see how that goes.

This blog would list among one of my 1,000 gifts. I often come back and look at old posts and relive old memories. So, to that end, I'm pledging to pick it back up again and try to share some of my 1,000 gifts as they're happening. To give thanks -- Eucharisteo.
